A lot has changed for Charlene since we last spoke. In the past year and a half, she has legally changed her name, begun her transition, and undergone facial feminization surgery. Embracing her true self has resulted in a renaissance of sorts for this beloved Brooklyn performer. When it comes to Charlene, creative boundaries do not exist, as she strives to create performances that cast a spell over her audience through their level of transgression and socio-political commentary.
